In addition to this, you'll also need a valid passport.

Students belonging to many countries will need to obtain a British Student Visa to study in UK. They can do this at the British Embassy, High Commission or Consulate of Britain. Students from some Commonwealth countries where obtaining a student visa is not compulsory must also have to get entry clearance before leaving their home. This is to make sure a Right of Appeal in the unlikely event that entry is refused. To verify either you need to obtain a visa or not, visit Foreign and Commonwealth Office web page at http://fco.gov.uk/travel/imm_visa.asp

LIVING COST IN UK

Living Cost for International Students in United Kingdom

Private AccommodationIt is important to remember, if you are using the lists of private rented accommodation provided by Student Housing Services, that although they try to secure a range of good quality housing at reasonable prices, the properties have not been inspected. You should not assume that listed accommodation is "approved accommodation". You should never accept accommodation without first seeing the property. When you find accommodation you may have to pay a deposit immediately of up to one month’s rent and also one month’s rent in advance (always ask for a receipt). You may also have to pay a deposit for gas, electricity and telephone services. You should therefore have available around £800 for initial expenses such as deposit, rent in advance and the cost of temporary accommodation.
Your landlord or landlady will usually expect the rent on a fixed day, weekly or monthly in advance. Make sure you have a rent book or a receipt for the rent. If your landlord or landlady does not provide a rent book, buy one yourself (available from stationery shops) and ask them to sign it when you pay rent. A rent book may also list certain house rules (or these may be displayed elsewhere in the house). Check you understand these and can keep to them as they may form part of your contract of tenancy and are usually aimed at keeping the household running smoothly.
In self-contained flats, your rent will usually be payable monthly and your landlord or landlady is unlikely to live on the premises. Any rules you are required to keep will be written in the lease or agreement you have signed which is legally binding. The lease will usually be for specific periods and once you sign you are committed to renting the flat for that length of time. So study the lease carefully before signing, and if necessary take legal advice.
Money MattersBefore coming to the UK you should organize your money to ensure you have enough at the start of your course and for the duration of your course. You will also need to investigate the best ways to bring money into the UK.
Most students will have to buy bedding, clothes and basic essentials a the beginning of their stay. London is in general, milder than other parts of the UK. The summer tends to be warm; winter is usually cold and damp; spring and autumn are somewhere in between. £300 should be enough for additional clothing needs.
Entertainment CostsLondon hosts a wide range of entertainment venues catering to all groups of people. Dinner out can cost from £15 upwards. Cinemas in Central London cost around £10. Clubs cost from £8-£15. There are special discounts available to students so make sure you ask.
Travel CostsThe cost of traveling in London is dependent on where you are traveling to and how often you need to travel. Weekly underground passes cost between £18.00 (or travel in central zones one and two) and £35 if you are traveling between central and outer London. Bus passes are much cheaper. Excellent discounts exist for full-time students.
London is very well served by British Rail. Reductions are available on British Rail if you buy a Young Person’s Rail card, which is available to anyone under 25 years. If you are over 25 you are entitled to a Student Rail card if you are engaged in 15 or more hours of education a week. Both cards obtain a one third reduction in price on train tickets. These cards can be purchased from BR train stations. British Rail has a number of special offers. Tickets may be cheaper if you book them in advance. These are known as Apex fares. It is important to note that when traveling at peak hours, that is, before 9am and on certain trains from about 5pm to 7pm, tickets will be considerably more expensive. Traveling on a Friday and on certain other days throughout the year is also more expensive.

FINANCIAL AIDS

Scholarships and Financial aid available for International Students in UK

Generally no scholarships are provided in UK. However if you are extraordinary then you may be eligible for some financial aid. In United Kingdom, fee is charged higher for non-EU students. It is because British Government doesn't provide any financial support for providing education to non-EU students. Since Living cost and university or college fee is comparatively expensive, it is very important for you to be financially capable to carry on your studies in UK.
To support your costs while studying in UK, you are permitted to do 20 hours a week of part-time job. However it is not sure that you may get the job in UK, so be careful. If you are financially not capable before you enter UK and are thinking to spend the money you have earned doing part-time job in UK for your studies then you may have problem after you'll be unable to get any type of job in United Kingdom. Most of the Asian students are getting such problem. But in the popular cities like London, students find job easily.

STUDENT VISA PROCESS

Process to obtain Russian Student Visa for international students
mida();
Russia requires visas for nearly all visitors. Anyone seriously considering a long stay in Russia should read the Russian visa information so as to understand the different types of visas, who is eligible for them, and what restrictions may exist. Student visa is issued only for students, who come to Russia for study programs or enrolling on a course to a Russian university/school. This is the best kind of visa in terms of flexibility, but you can only get it if you applied to a Russian university, school or an institution and will study there.
Studying in a universityIf you are thinking about doing an exchange with one of the Russian universities (also known as "visiting scholars" or "stazhirovka" in Russian), you will need to submit your data to the university and the "foreign department" of the university will take care of all the formalities. They will submit all your data to the immigration officials and have your student invitation ready in about 2 to 6 weeks (may take longer at MGU - Moscow State University). After that, the "foreign department" of the university where you will be studying will either send you the invitation by post, by fax, or send the invitation by telex directly to the consulate where you will apply for your visa and you'll just need to know the telex number when you apply. Usually, the student visa doesn't have a limited validity, it is extended all the time, depending on how long you study.
Studying in a language schoolIf your language school is attached to some Russian educational body you will get a student visa and the process will be about the same as the one described for universities above. However, if it is a private school, they will most likely make a normal tourist (up to 1 month), or so-called "business" (which is a name for a long-term visas) invitation, which you will need to submit to a Russian consulate to get a Russian visa. When you apply to the consulate for a student visa, you'll need to pay a normal fee, which will be about the same as for a tourist visa ($50-$150, depending on processing time).

LIVING COST IN RUSSIA

Living Cost for International Students in Russia

HousingStudents live in the residence hall the first three days after arrival to get accustomed to the program, then they have two housing options:
Residence hallHoused in the comfortable residence hall for foreign students at most of the Universities, students live in 2-room suites (two students per room, four students per suite) with kitchenette (stove and refrigerator), toilet and bathtub/shower in each suite. The residence hall has LAN connections in all rooms so students are advised to bring a laptop computer with them. The initial set-up fee is $10, with a $5 per month user fee and 4cts per gigabyte of traffic ($7-$10 per month depending on the numbers of hours of use). Students will also be able to use their laptops for writing papers and entertainment (Music, DVD and digital photography). Students must keep their laptops locked up when not in use.
HomestayStudents who choose to live in a Russian home receive breakfast with the host. Living with a Russian family gives students a tremeAndous opportunity to improve their Russian language skills and to experience a significant amount of Russian culture and cuisine. Students must request to live in a homestay at the time of application. Most homestays are mostly located 20-25 minutes by public transportation or 30 minutes walk from the Universities.
Meal allowanceStudents receive a monetary allowance to purchase meals in cafés or the University cafeteria, or they can cook their own meals in their dorm kitchenette. Homestay students can use the funds to pay the family directly for lunch or dinner. This arrangement is easier for students, as they do not have to budget cash for meals each week.

STUDENT VISA PROCESS

Process to obtain Dutch Student Visa for international students

To enter Netherlands for study purposes, people from most countries need a visa. This is a sticker placed in your passport at the Dutch embassy or consulate in your own country, but it must be applied for well in advance.
Short stay visaFor a stay of less than three months, you might need a short stay visa (Visum Kort Verblijf), depending on your nationality. Check the website
www.ind.nl or ask your local Dutch embassy or consulate for advice.
Authorization for temporary stayIf you will be staying for longer than three months, you need an authorization for temporary stay (Machtiging tot Voorlopig Verblijf, or MVV). This requirement does not apply to citizens of EU/EEA member states, the USA, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Japan, Switzerland or Monaco. Check the website
www.ind.nl or ask your local Dutch embassy or consulate for advice.
The regular application procedure for an MVV may take three to six months, sometimes even longer. The Dutch host institution can apply for an MVV on your behalf using a fast-track procedure. But to do this, the institution must give the authorities a guarantee, which they sign. Institutions will not always agree to do this. But it is worth asking the institution about the fast-track procedure, because it will save both time and trouble.
Residence permitWithin three days after arriving in Holland, all foreign nationals must register with the local authorities. Those intending to stay for longer than three months also need to obtain a residence permit (verblijfsvergunning). You may need this even if you did not require a visa to enter the country. The administration fee is rather high and currently stands at € 430 (April 2005).
Nationals of EU member states are not strictly required to have a residence permit, but it is advisable for them to obtain a residence document (costs € 28) to avoid hassles when dealing with certain authorities and companies.
Work permitIn order to follow an internship or work placement in Holland, students from outside the EU/EEA need a work permit (Tewerkstellingsvergunning) in addition to their entry visa. Your employer must apply for this permit for you. You also need a work permit if you want to take paid work alongside your studies. There are two options if you want to work while you study: either less than ten hours a week year-round, or full-time during the months of June, July and August only. If you have successfully completed your program of higher education, you may apply for a residence permit valid for five years. To do this, you must have a contract of employment.

FINANCIAL AIDS

Scholarships and Financial aid available for International Students in Netherlands

With the exception of students from European Union member states wishing to study certain subjects, foreign students are not eligible for the student grants and loans that the Dutch government provides for permanent residents. There are, however, several possibilities for obtaining funding.
The Dutch government is attempting to make Dutch higher education as accessible as possible to students and mid-career from other countries. Higher education is subsidized, which means that tuition fees can be kept relatively low, especially compared with countries like the United Kingdom and the United States.
Some Bachelor’s degree courses enjoy a partial tuition waiver. Students enrolling in master’s programs can sometimes apply for a scholarship. The amount varies from one institution to the next. Most scholarships are allocated before or at the time of enrolment; a few must be applied for after the study program begins.
If you are from an European Union member state, however, you are fortunate because you may be entitled to a regular student grant or to a refund of the tuition fee.

LIVING COST IN NETHERLANDS

Living Cost for International Students in Netherlands

To live in Netherlands, it costs a foreign student between €700 and €1,000 a month. This is needed to cover daily expenses and to pay the rent, the registration and tuition fees.
Education in Holland is not free, but tuition fees are at reasonable levels. The annual tuition fees for enrolment on a program or course at a Dutch higher education institution differ and start at approximately € 1,470 for EU students. The costs of programs or courses for non-EU students are generally higher.
Although differences between incomes are small in the Netherlands, most students live towards the bottom of the economic ladder. If you have an average student income -- from a scholarship, for example -- you will find that one-third of it will go towards housing, and food will cost you another third.
Fortunately, most higher education institutions offer hot meals at reasonable prices. Many cities have pubs (called eetcafé’s) where you can eat cheaply and well. But the cheapest and most pleasant way to eat is to do your own cooking, perhaps together with housemates. Dutch supermarkets carry a large and international variety of products. The remaining third of your money will go towards books, transportation, and other expenses.
AccommodationIf you are taking part in an exchange program or are enrolled in an international course, it is quite possible that a room will be arranged for you. Accept it immediately, or you will regret it later!
Finding a place to live in a country as crowded as the Netherlands is not easy. It is very common for Dutch students to find their own rented rooms on the private market. These are generally unfurnished, and kitchens and bathrooms are often shared with others. If you wish, you can always try to find your own rented room once you have been here for a few months. So before you leave your own country, ask your host institution whether or not housing will be arranged for you in advance. If you are in the Netherlands and still looking for a place, ask for advice from the international relations office or the student dean. And let your fellow students know you need a room. It will be up to you to take the initiative.
InsuranceDutch law requires everyone living in the Netherlands be covered by health insurance. Students must themselves make sure that they have adequate coverage. If the insurance you have in your own country provides full cover for medical costs and legal liability while you are in the Netherlands, you should bring with you a statement (in English) detailing the insurance cover. If you do not have adequate coverage, you will have to take out a policy. The student dean at your host institution or Nuffic can provide you with more information.

Holland, or more formally the Netherlands, is an internationally oriented and innovative country located in the heart of Europe. This makes it ideal for people who are looking to enrich their knowledge through study abroad. Holland was the first non-English-speaking country with courses taught in English. The Dutch higher education institutions together offer 1,000 international study programs and courses which are taught entirely in English. Higher education in Holland enjoys a worldwide reputation for its high quality. This is achieved through a national system of regulation and quality assurance. STUDENT VISA PROCESS

Process to obtain Italian Student Visa for international students

Every Foreign student intending the study in Italy must obtain a Italian student visa before entering into the Italy.
In order to assure a timely processing of visas, the student (or his/her parents on their child’s behalf) should begin the visa application as early as possible but no sooner than three months prior to the program's initiation. We strongly recommend that students mustn't wait until the holiday period to go to the Consulate. Not only can the wait be lengthy, but it also makes the turnaround time for visa issuance longer than usual.
Students should contact your nearest Italian consulate and follow the directions for obtaining a student visa.
The visa will not be issued the same day; the process can take up to 60 days.
Italian institutions will provide the necessary Letter of Acceptance, Letter of Enrollment, Insurance Letter and Course Schedule to complete your visa application materials.

Those students who leave the Italian territory are allowed to enter again only if they already hold a stay permit.
Renewals
After matriculation, and at least 30 days before the expiration of their stay permits, all non-Eu students coming from abroad have to apply to the Questura for such permits to be extended for the whole year. In Italy, Universities and other Higher Education Institutes establish their own fees but in the case of university education there is a legal minimum fee for enrolment and maximum level for student contributions to costs and services, which cannot exceed 20% of state funding.
The average fees a student has to pay is somewhere between 850 euro and 1,000 euro per year since this varies from one university to another and also depends on the chosen course of study. Private universities are clearly much more expensive.
Admission to “master universitari” and other specialization courses also have much higher fees. Doctoral students who receive a grant from the university do not pay fees, but non-grant holders are required to pay the fees, which will vary again according to the university chosen.
Costs
Spring or FallAbout $6000 to $8000 will be required depending on the location and university which includes tuition (15 credits), orientation program, airport pick-up, meals, personal expenses, transportation only for two faculty-led excursions, academic and personal advising, student activity and technology fee, mandatory public health policy and permit to stay processing. Health insurance charge shall be charged separately.

Health insurance charge shall be charged separately.

Students contract to share a rented apartment organized through the student's university's approved real estate agency. Apartments are furnished and usually consist of 2-3 double-occupancy bedrooms, a living area, kitchen and bathroom. Telephone, linens, and access to a washing machine are provided.
Options for social activities will depend very much on where you study. Obviously the bigger cities like Rome, Venice, Florence etc and towns have more on offer but small towns often have very active student associations and a wider choice of outdoor activities. The best way to find out what is going on is to check with local students and student associations. The local papers will cover information on events taking place in the town or region.
